Apr 20, 2022 · Hi! New preparations for the actual final fight of my campaign ~ So, final fight in DiP, Cryovain. Big bad dragon. Buuut. A young white dragon is quite weak, for a full party of level 5, especially without a dungeon beforehand. So, I'm buffing the crap out of it, mainly by making it a legendary creature with lair actions.

The howling of the wind prevents Cryovain from hearing intruders who remain relatively quiet. The wind also silences the characters as they follow the icy path (area H1) that leads to and from the gatehouse (areas H2 through area H6).

Cryovain has blindsight to 30', so he doesn't care about obstructing vision. The players will be forced to choose to either stay in the cloud for cover (they won't know it continues to do damage yet or that Cryovain can still see them) or to disperse in hopes of avoiding another breath attack.

Apr 7, 2020 · Cryovain hasn't much treasure when encountered in its new lair in the Sword Mountains because its arrival is sudden, just moved in after being driven from lands farther north by more powerful dragons as explain in the Adventure Background at the begining. You can always add more treasure but it's how the adventure was originally written.

Nov 4, 2020 · It's my first time DMing and I don't want the BBEG to be a pushover for them. So, I added a new statblock for Cryovain for more experienced parties. (Also keep note that our dnd campaigns usually have very large stats for players. For example one player started with 20 strenght and 18 Consitution.

Aug 21, 2021 · My group are planning on talking to Cryovain first rather than just going for the kill. I'm trying to work out what his motivation is for moving to Icespire Peak, what he wants, whether he'd ever leave peacefully, etc. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Oct 4, 2021 · As far as I recall, the Cryovain encounters prior to the end are to set the tone and feeling for the adventure. Cryovain is dangerous and a large threat to the people in the countryside (even though they are only a young dragon). If the dragon ends up in the same location as the party, it is an opportunity to demonstrate the power of the creature, not TPK and end the adventure. You are the DM ...

Aug 14, 2022 · Hey everyone, I made a new block for cryovain and I'd like to know if it's suitable for a party of 5 level 6 characters. I tried to make this block to reflect Cryovain as an adolescent dragon, instead of a young. I pretty much buffed things up to make a stronger than a young dragon but weaker than an adult.
