Feb 6, 2019 · As regards shoes or footwear more broadly, I wear mid-height boots (Keen Targhee II) and pack a pair of sturdy outdoor sandals (Ecco). The boots support me during the day, The sandals are for evening and rest day wear, as well as post-Camino, at Santiago. The flip flops are my potentially expendable method to avoid getting foot infections.

On balance, if you are not planning to walk the Camino in the sandals or Crocs, but are planning to use them primarily for shower, lounge, or tourist purposes, I would opt for the Crocs. I do.

AT the end of the walking day, I will take out my walking insoles, use some toilet tissue to quickly wipe out any moisture and grime, and put in my extra insoles (they are actually the ones that come with the shoes and weight next to nothing).
