Dec 12, 2011 · Unless you are making the hat in doily thread, it is really hard to use a graphed alphabet and incorporate the name into the stitches 'as you go' and have a legible name on something as small as a hat (you would have to use sc, or tunisian).

Sep 27, 2007 · You can just crochet 3 dc into every stitch and then do a second row of dc if you want more 'distance' If you want the ruffles to stand away from the hat then you can work FPsc into the stitches on the last row. work (FPsc in 1, 2FPsc in next) around the hat and then you can work dc stitches into the post stitches on the next round.

Dec 20, 2007 · Since you are using worsted weight, the hat would normally come out a bit bigger than the pattern states, but if you crochet tightly, that might compensate for it. Even the person's hair can make a difference in what you do with a hat. One of my sisters has so much hair, that if she lets it grow at all, she can't get hats big enough.

Feb 3, 2022 · I didn't notice you posted as I was typing the above - so your hat is supposed to be 19" in circumference, 19 divided by 3.14 is 6.05", and doesn't quite use the increase formula I cited above (the 6, 9 12, multiples for SC, HDC and DC, came from a blog, Crochet Cabana, and it works for me - but all of us have different stitch tensions, including the designer of your hat.
