After the breakup of the Yugoslavia, the newly formed Croatia inherited a fleet of M-84 tanks. By 2008, all of them had been modernized to the M-84A4 "Sniper" level and as of 2023, most of them had undergone major repairs and updated communication systems.

The M-95 Degman is a prototype Croatian main battle tank, developed in 2003 by the Đuro Đaković company and is largely based on the older M-91 Vihor tank that was based in the M-84 tank.
