The Bombardier CRJ / Mitsubishi CRJ or CRJ Series (for Canadair Regional Jet) is a family of regional jets introduced in 1991 by Bombardier Aerospace. The CRJ was manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace with the manufacturing of the first CRJ generation, the CRJ100/200 starting in 1991 and the second CRJ generation, the CRJ700 series starting in 1999.

Jul 18, 2013 · CRJ-440s were originally delivered to 9E when the NW pilot contract had a lowish limit on how many 50 seat jets could be operated by Airlink. They had 44 coach seats, with a closet in the cabin where the 6 seats would have been. Once the new contract was signed in... 06ish, I wanna say, the 440s were converted to the standard 50 seat layout.

The CRJ-100/-200 (and CRJ-440) are powered by the CF34-3A/-3B1 and -3C1 engines. The -8C5 series engines has been powering the CRJ-700, the CRJ-900 and the CRJ-1000 since 2005. These CF34 variants range in thrust rating from 8,729lbs to 13,630lbs (see table, page 12).

The CRJ440 is a 44-seat variant with the same dimensions as the CRJ200 but with reduced capacity to comply with pilot scope clause restrictions which didn't allow regional airlines in the USA to operate aircraft with 50 seats or more on behalf of major airlines.

May 14, 2012 · The CRJ200 is identical to the 100 model except for more efficient engines. Pinnacle Airlines had operated some with 44 seats, designated as CRJ440, with closets in the forward areas of the passenger cabin though these were converted to 50 seat airplanes.
