Jun 8, 2018 · So, I have finally finished my first railgun ship. There are no mods so it isn't the longest railgun but it is a pretty decent one. And since it was able to defeat my one ship that I had not been able to beat before by gutting the middle I named this the Ship Breaker.

It doesnt have ammo. The railgun needs cannon ammo to fire. Also, the reload time will be very long, because you have them running from the bottom to the top with power to refresh it - and the shields are sub-optimal with their distance from the reactor.

Nice submissions and good inspiration we got here together! I 've build 2 new Railgun ships, both are the same concept. One of them is within 1mio credits, the second one within 1.5 mio credits. It seems like Railguns and Missiles fit pretty good together in a highly manouverable ship: Skirmir: Pro's and contra's: + Very manouverable ship

For a weapon that mainly use power to fire, rail gun actually don't consume too much power. Take energy-based weapons for example, small laser spent 250 power and deal 400 damage per shot.

Any walls with decent amounts of forward thrusts can catch it up with ease and when they do, the rail gun ships lose all the time. This type of ships needs to have a better range in order to be a real sniper, at least they should have the range to reach the missile kitters.

I think Railguns are not op. The best way to confirm that is to build ships within a relatively small budget. As example 500k. Building a Railgun-ship means, you have to build your entire ship aroud this single weapon. and if your Railgun is destroyed, your ship will be toast for sure. And you easy can find a counter to railguns.
