In addition to their traditional pottery, Cochiti potters also produce ceramic animal figurines in the form of owls, turtles, bears, frogs, coyotes and other animals, many of which are quite popular with the tourists.

This owl is signed in pencil Cochiti Ignacita Suina which may indicate she made it before her marriage to Santiago Arquero which would have been before the 1920 U. S. Census. The owl is painted in black guaco pigment over the traditional cream Cochiti slip.

The Cochiti Pottery of Cochiti Pueblo is noted for fun figurative styled pottery, giving each pot a signature voice and personality.
