Welcome to the CloudSat Data Processing Center | CloudSat DPC
Jan 1, 2024 · CloudSat is a satellite mission designed to measure the vertical structure of clouds from space. The radar data produces detailed images of cloud structures which will contribute to a better understanding of clouds and climate.
CloudSat | NASA's Earth Observing System
Apr 28, 2006 · CloudSat is studying clouds in detail to better characterize the role they play in regulating Earth's climate. CloudSat is providing the first direct, global survey of the vertical structure and overlap of cloud systems and their liquid and ice-water contents.
CloudSat - Wikipedia
CloudSat is a Passivated NASA Earth observation satellite, which was launched on a Delta II rocket on April 28, 2006, and is awaiting disposal. It used radar to measure the altitude and properties of clouds, adding to the information on the relationship between clouds and climate to help resolve questions about global warming .

Apr 28, 2006 · Launch and mission summary for NASA's CloudSat satellite, which uses advanced radar to image clouds and better understand their role in weather and climate change.
Cloudsat - NASA Science
Sep 7, 2023 · CloudSat was designed to provide observations to advance our understanding of cloud abundance, distribution, structure, and radiative properties.
NASA’s CloudSat Ends Mission Peering Into the Heart of Clouds
Apr 23, 2024 · CloudSat, a NASA mission that peered into hurricanes, tallied global snowfall rates, and achieved other weather and climate firsts, has ended its operations. Originally proposed as a 22-month mission, the spacecraft was recently decommissioned after almost 18 years observing the vertical structure and ice/water content of clouds.
CloudSat | ESSP - NASA
CloudSat provides a never-before-seen perspective on clouds; its radar allows us to see inside the large cloud masses that make our weather. This helps us understand processes such as those that convert the tiny cloud particles to precipitation.
