Nov 25, 2010 · Chukars need lots of room,if they are crowded they will kill each other.No gamebirds can be raised with chickens.Gamebirds are suseptible to diseases and should be raised with gamebirds.They need a gamebird feed and cracked corn in the winter for all your birds.You can also give them treats like fruit,veggies,mealworms,peanuts,and wild bird seed.

Oct 17, 2011 · All the meat on a wild pheasant is about the same color.....a shade somewhere between white & dark meat on a chicken. Pheasants run as much as they fly, so the legs and breast muscles get the same amount of use & are close to the same color. Pen raised birds that aren't flight conditioned will have much lighter breast meat and darker leg meat.

Apr 11, 2008 · My neighbor used to go hunting chukars with his dogs. If it's true that they taste like grouse, then eat chukar! Grouse is considered the epitome of all of the poultry breeds. I've enjoyed it tremendously. Pheasant and quail were a huge disappointment. Wild turkey cooked on a rotisserie was a gourmand's delight!

Jan 6, 2019 · I recently rescued four chukar partridges from a live meat market in Philadelphia and bought a nice coop and they have been living in it for about 6 days. Since they were from the meat market, when I got them, they were understandably scared and had no clue how to even raise thier heads as they were squished in a tiny cramped cage before.

Jan 11, 2012 · Chukar Partridge chicks are like all other game bird chicks of any breed. They must be kept warm, dry, fed, and watered for them to thrive. There is a few rules I follow for game birds besides the usual chick brooding for poultry. Throughout the brooding process, I feed the same feed mixture that is NON medicated.
