Carballo is a municipality in the province of A Coruña, in the autonomous community of Galicia, in northwestern Spain. The town is the thirteenth most populated municipality in the region and it belongs to the comarca of Bergantiños , serving as its capital.

Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo (1499–1543) was a navigator and explorer known for exploring the west coast of North America on behalf of the Spanish Empire. Cabrillo was the first European explorer to navigate the coast of present-day California in the United States.
