Kohleria is a New World genus of the flowering plant family Gesneriaceae. The plants are generally tropical herbs or subshrubs with velvety stems and foliage and brightly colored flowers with spots or markings in contrasting colors. They are rhizomatous and commonly include a period of dormancy in their growth cycle.

Description: Terrestrial, perennial herbs or subshrubs with scaly rhizomes. Stem usually erect, sometimes decumbent, terete. Leaves opposite or in whorls of 3-4, ± isophyllous, pilose or hirsute, petiolate. Inflorescences from leaf or bract axils, in few-flowered, fasciculate to umbellate cymes, or flowers solitary.

Kohleria is a Neotropical genus of the subtribe Gloxiniinae with around 22 species currently known. Species are distributed throughout the Western Cordillera from Peru to Mexico, as well as in Venezuela, Trinidad and the Guianas. The center of diversity is in Colombia. The plants occur from warm low to cool high elevation cloud forests.
