The Cambridge Central Mosque [2] is the first purpose-built mosque within the city of Cambridge, England. It opened to the public on 24 April 2019. [3] The Mosque is a prominent Islamic centre located on Mill Road in the Romsey area of Cambridge. The mosque serves as a place of worship, community centre and cultural hub for Muslims in the area.

Cambridge Central Mosque opened in 2019. The £23m project was funded by over 10,000 donations. The competition for the design was won by London-based architect David Marks. The garden in front was designed by Emma Clark, an expert on Islamic gardens.

It is intended to announce Islam’s presence in Cambridge as a spiritual and cultural centre not only for Muslims but also the wider community. In 2009, Marks Barfield Architects won the competition with the concept of the mosque as a calm oasis within a grove of trees.
