OSD Menus are most commonly activated electronically via a 5v switching pin on the chroma chip (commonly known as the YS or blanking pin). Traditionally this behavior is utilized to inject our own RGB signals to replace the OSD menu with RGB input signals.

Jun 7, 2022 · The common, modern method of RGB modding is called the mux (short for multiplex - electronics term for combining signals) mod because it integrates your external RGB lines from your console with the existing lines from the on screen display's OSD.

It is only possible on sets where the Jungle IC has analog RGB inputs for the on-screen display (OSD). Basically, you inject your RGB signals into these pins and wire a physical switch to the blanking pin so that the entire screen is displayed instead of the OSD menu.

The mod depends on the important fact that the CRT already has RGB input – but only for the On Screen Disploy (OSD), which is the overlay text that displays the channel number, volume bar and menu navigation.
