The GE C40-8W is a 6-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by GE Transportation Systems from 1989 to 1994. Often referred to as the Dash light series, it is part of the GE Dash 8 Series of freight locomotives.

Apr 8, 2025 · So I’m trying to figure out what Railroads in the US purchased GE C40-8Ws and what the specs of each one were from the default specs from GE. I know the original Demo unit had a Tri-Window cab and was short-lived and was a B36-8 rebuild (at least I think it was a B36-8)
