Sep 21, 2023 · The squadron operates four CC-138 DHC ‘Twin Otter’ aircraft. Today, only four RCAF Twin Otters remain in service with 440 Transport Squadron out of Yellowknife, NT – 13802, 13803, 13804, and 13805 – all four having originally entered service in 1971.

Jan 16, 2023 · But in 2017 the Liberal government announced it was extending the life of the Twin Otters, also known as CC-138s. Structural components, namely the wings, were replaced on the aircraft.

Designated CC-138 in Canadian Armed Forces service, 13801 was delivered 24 June 1971 and entered service with 424 Sqd in Canada and Kashmir. Transferred to 440 Sqd in April 1975, it continued to serve the CAF until sold to Scott Aircraft Sales as N774A in December 1994.
