James Ray "Bud" Cockrell (March 28, 1950 – March 6, 2010) was an American musician and singer-songwriter, best known as the original bassist and one of the lead vocalists for the San Francisco-based California rock band Pablo Cruise. [1]

Replacement bassist and vocalist James "Bud" Cockrell would help form Pablo Cruise shortly thereafter, and violinist Gregory Bloch joined the Italian progressive rock group Premiata Forneria Marconi and later the Saturday Night Live Band.

Bud Cockrell, from Greenville, Mississippi, has 4 gold records. He was a singer and bass guitar player with Pablo Cruise in the 70’s. He left the band for joint project with then wife Pattie Santos (vocal on “White Bird” from the “It’s a Beautiful Day” band out of San Francisco in the early 70’s).
