May 8, 2021 · I needed a small accurate boring head and the Chinese ones just wouldn't cut it so I made my own. It works very very well and is solid. I plan on building another one (2" diameter) and I am going to make a few changes so that I can use an indexable attachment like Mesa Tools makes for the Criterion heads.

Mar 31, 2013 · Needed a boring head and decided to make my own as explained in "Milling a complete course" by Harrold Hall. Pretty much followed the instructions and sequence in the book. Fly cutting the contact surface after cutting the dovetail in the body.

Jan 10, 2010 · I want to build a boring head for my Milling machine, the milling machine uses a R8 Taper and I was thinking of using 1/2" or 5/8" boring bars. Does any one have a good plan for building a boring head that is not to complicated?

Making a boring head. Another kit from Hemmingway Kits. This one was to make a boring head for the milling machine. A kit was purchased with an MT2 arbor. The design required the machining of a dovetail slideway, so a 60 degree milling cutter was also ordered.

Dec 7, 2020 · I made a boring head in a similar size; in my case I was aiming for imperial units, so used a 1/4-20 screw and a 50-division dial to give adjustments of .001" - can go a little finer by aiming between the divisions - and 3/8" diameter boring bars.
