Jan 19, 2016 · I have only used the standard solvent that came in Outer's Cleaning kits and then used Hoppe's No. 9 when the Outer's was used up. And I have used these products for over 50 years in my handguns and rifles. A Lewis Lead Remover was added 30 years ago to my arsenal for combating "leading" in my handguns because I only shoot leads in them.

Then I wet a phosphor bronze brush with solvent and give the bore twenty strokes, followed by a wet patch and then a dry patch. When the dry patch is "clean enough" I run an oiled patch through the bore and quit. On rifles, it usually takes several cycles.

Feb 25, 2016 · Run a felt cylinder soaked with a good solvent, like EEZOX, through your bore a couple of times. Let the solvent work to loosen up the carbon and gunk and then use a section of weed-whacker line to pull a dry felt plug through the bore until it's clean. I avoid those bore snakes at all cost as they are NOT very kindly on a .22 rimfir bore.

Dec 24, 2018 · When you dip the bore brush in the solvent, it will get to a point where you are cleaning dirt with dirt. You are basically diluting the solvent with everything hanging onto your bore brush. "The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."

May 1, 2016 · Use something like Sweet's 7.62 or any of the modern bore cleaners. You, should use a Non-Embedding bore emulsion such as J-B and follow the instructions. Cleaning modern stainless and quality Carbon Steel barrels requires cleaning that is also modern. Use the proper bore jag and and fiber bore brushes.

Apr 22, 2010 · Dry the bore with patches and leave the action open over-night to ensure dryness. Then in the morning, clean the rifle like any other, with regular solvent and patches. Well, when I ran a patch through the next day, it came out bright orange. But all subsequent patches didn't even have a hint of orange. Any ideas why this is?

Sep 12, 2008 · on new rifles i clean after very 5 shots until i get to about 100 rds then go to 10.your actually lapping the barrel with every shot smoothing the bore and filling pits(all microscopic) and the cleaning helps to fisih that process better b/c your removing unnecessary fouling.was told this by multiple thousand yard shooters but they also use a bore lapping compound to speed the process up a bit ...
