Originally built in 1929, this Boeing Model 100, a civil counterpart to the P-12 and U.S. Navy F4B-1 fighter, was restored in the 1970s and flew again above the Seattle area skies after being grounded since 1940. The lettering and insignia applied to the restored aircraft duplicated those on an actual P-12 of the 95th Pursuit Squadron.

The Boeing Model 100, a duplicate of the contemporary Army P-12 and Navy F4B-1, was built as a type-certificated airplane. Note the unique corrugated tail surfaces. Since it was to use experimental engines, this one went to Pratt & Whitney on an experimental rather than a standard, or NC, license. It has since been restored in conformance

The Model 100 was a civil version of Boeing's F4B-1 with four built. This one was sold to Pratt and Whitney for use as a flying test bed and later used by stunt and airshow pilot Milo Burcham and movie pilot Paul Mantz. Restored to flying condition with this Army P-12 color scheme in 1977, it was donated to the Museum of Flight in 1987.
