“There are many challenges operating an acute care pediatric hospital in California,” Simon tells Blueprint magazine during an interview in July. “It’s a highly regulated industry that ensures patient safety and quality of care.”

“A very diversified position that requires lots of problem-solving and outside-the-box thinking,” he tells Blueprint this past November. “But I’m just one member of a team.” Flash forward to the third quarter of 2023 and the new 354-bed, 910,000-square-foot hospital is expected to open.
