Dec 16, 2018 · As above, blue topaz is invariably heated and can be found in a few different shades “London Blue”, “Sky Blue” etc and can be really cheap. Also a more pure blue. Quality Topaz cut by an Artisan can be spectacular, the stuff on eBay -ugh.

Mar 15, 2020 · I think you'll be spending $5K for something with virtually no intrinsic value. London Blue Topaz is almost valueless and the melee will be cheap (unknown origin and heavily treated). I would look for a pre-made inexpensive topaz ring and get some "stackers" -- as folks here call them -- for small sapphire and emerald.

Oct 16, 2020 · The topaz was swimming pool blue, emerald cut, probably 15x10mm, but the setting! Omg the setting was just fabulous. It had these thick tubular prongs that held the center stone but underneath the center was an entire band of square-cut invisible set blue topaz.

Dec 7, 2004 · Blue Topaz is usually a much darker blue than aquamarine. I have seen aquamarines that are almost the same color as Blue Topaz but the price for them was waaaaay over what you would pay for a lighter aqua. A bit of green or gray tint is common in aquas, whereas Blue Topaz colors are a much purer navy blue.

Jan 18, 2005 · Even blue topaz can be coated since there are several treatments that yield types of "blue topaz" sold under different commercial names. As long as the silver cleaner is deemed safe to handle, it shouldn''t be capable to damage blue toaz which is inert to every household chemical I can think of. Sorry to hear such thing.

Mar 8, 2009 · The irradiation and subsequent low temperature heating of topaz is one such treatment. Neither the color of a blue topaz nor the presence of inclusions can show that the stone is untreated -- irradiated/heated topaz come in all shades of blue, and the heat treatment is usually done at a temperature that will not affect inclusions.
