Begbie, discovering Renton and the money gone, enragedly destroys their hotel room, prompting the police to arrest him as Sick Boy and Spud flee. Spud discreetly claims his share of the money, and Renton walks away to his new life.

Now a wanted man, Begbie flees Edinburgh for London and tracks down Renton who is now working as a real estate agent and trying to start a new life free from drugs: forcing his way into his "friend's" bedsit and making himself at home, the fugitive soon makes himself at home as Renton's new unofficial roommate.

On their walk back from the train station, Begbie beats a man up, seemingly at random, and Rent Boy makes no move to stop him. Several characters including Rent Boy, Sick Boy, Begbie, Spud, and Second Prize take a bus to London for one big heroin deal.

As the scene unfreezes, Begbie’s pint glass falls into the crowd below the balcony, crashes on someone’s head and causes commotion. Renton explains that Begbie’s version of doing drugs is “doing people,” and describes it as Begbie’s own sensory addiction.
