Trunks' power maxed out to be stronger than SSJ3 Goku. The anime dropped the ball and gave him a transformation without any backstory other than he saw SSB. Gohan's beast is an evolution of his potential being unlocked. Why not ? He looks so good, and would make a lot more sense than ss rage which had no meaning. Why not ?
