Jun 6, 2005 · There are a lot of DIY bass cabinet threads and after looking through them, I have learned a lot of really interesting things about voicings, tones, sealed, ported etc.. about cabinets. I would really like to make some various-size bass cabinets with my son for their woodshop project but would like to see if anyone has plans for a build.

May 13, 2004 · Tonight I prepared the speaker cutouts. Using a technique from Shavano Music, I first lined up the speakers (placed upside down) and put a pencil through each screw hole and made a mark. I then took off the speakers and made lines between the opposing marks, eventually finding the center of the speaker area.

May 13, 2008 · Go to the medium cab design . That design is for 2.8 cu.ft. Double that and that's very close to the cab you want to put those speakers in . It says number of vents for 1 speaker is two . Lv is the port length and that is 6.8" long or close enough 7". So it looks to me if you put four 4" ports 7"long you would be good . Round ports .

Jan 9, 2019 · Quite right. You can't just stick a driver in a box and have a working speaker. It takes years to learn how to make a speaker worth having. It's both a science and an art. What you want to do is as realistic as spending a few days learning how to play bass and then getting hired by The Who. If you must have an eighteen find a used one.

Aug 30, 2018 · From my own experience if you don't know what you're doing, don't start with some random box with a random 15" speaker. Buy something already built that sounds good. And don't assume that 15" gives you the most bass, a common myth.

Aug 30, 2007 · The II, with rear tuned port, has a smoother frequency response in the low mid/bass range. The III, with front shelf port, has a lumpier response in the low mid/bass range, but is louder and seems more efficient in that range. These differences may be due to things not related to the porting, I don't know. The III cabinet is of course larger.

Even the huge Altec A7s that they used for studio monitors were bass shy, so even recorded direct there wasn't much happening below 70 hz. Oct 22, 2008 · Capcitance is not really an issue with any speaker cables the impedances are two low for it to be a contributing factor to tone. High capacitance cables can act like an EQ on Passive Basses because the interact with the pickup, but active pickup preamps are very low output impedance so cable capacitance is not really a factor.

I'm a software engineer, and frankly there is a whole lot more money in this, than in making specialty speaker cabs.
