
Bayou Classic BG14 Banjo Burner with Natural Gas
Jan 28, 2006 · I screwed the male end into the cast iron burner and the other end onto a gas valve that already came with a 3/8" male flare on it. The 1/4 turn gas valve only needs to be opened half way (45 degrees) for the burner to have a nice flame. Once I find a needle valve I will mount it on the burner input port to have finer control on the flame.

May 5, 2016 · The two burners that I'm looking at offer the same amount of BTU's of 185,000 and are the same price. One is a banjo burner with a wind screen and the other is a jet burner. The banjo burner runs on a 10 psi regulator and the jet burner runs on a 20 psi regulator.

Feb 12, 2009 · A Banjo burner of Hurricane burner is a better choice then a Jet burner for the Boil Kettle and MLT. You can use either style for the HLT. A Banjo burner is the same casting as a Hurricane burner. Either burner can be run with high pressure or low pressure, NG or LP just by changing the gas orifice.

Jan 1, 2008 · A banjo burner is quite a bit quieter than a regular jet burner and offers finer control of the heat (some say). It may also be more efficient at low settings, but I don't know that for sure since I've never had one. I can confirm that the standard jet burners are pretty loud. My 20 PSI jet burner turkey fryer sounds like a jet airplane.

I brewed an AG batch, with a grain bill of 10.25lbs, boil duration 60 min, 7gal pre boil. I used the burner & a freshly filled 5 gal propane tank to heat all my mash & sparge water. Before I started, the tank weighed 40.2lbs.

I'm trying to convert the 3 10" banjo burners I bought to low pressure propane so i can automate the brewstand I'm working on. I put together a low pressure regulator with a Marshall 2 stage regulator and drilled out the brass orifice to about .090", which according to the charts should be about 65,000 btu.

May 11, 2010 · That same burner can be run as a high pressure burner with the proper orifice and regulator. The popular Bayou Classic SQ-14 is a good example of this. It comes equipped with a high pressure orifice and an adjustable 0-10 psi regulator.
