It seems that even with a 30 mm cannon for defense, the BTR-82A is more workhorse than warhorse and more often the target than the hunter.

The BTR-82A's overall layout and ballistic protection is the same as the BTR-80A, but crew survivability has been increased with the installation of spall liners, blast-attenuating seating and an improved fire detection and suppression system.

The BTR-82 is an improved version of the BTR-80 that is produced since 2011. The improvements include a spall liner, new night vision sights, GLONASS navigation, more powerful engine and same BPPU turret as fitted on the BTR-80A and S.

The wheeled BTR-82A is the best and only alternative to the tracked IFVs in service with the Interior Force and special operators of the Ministry of Interior.
