Sep 2, 2017 · Why did the Soviets by the late Cold War (1980s) equip some of their infantry battalions with BMPs and others with BTR-60/70/80s? I know the BMP battalions were associated with tank regiments and divisions while the BTR battalions were associated with motor rifle regiments and divisions.
