Which only says BMW used WP and others to make OEM shock for them but that is all I can find. I think everybody here, even Roger, are right and these shocks I have here did not come on a R11S. They must have come off of a GS BMW instead. I am trying to contact the person who bought this bike originally to make sure these shock came on this R11S.

LOL. Well, I don't think that's true. I think there is just some misunderstandings due to BMW's excellent, well-rounded communication. At any rate, the two things in the article that set me off is that Anton mentions the CANBUS being part of the 'new' 1200's. The date of the article was 2006 and the R11S was not made after 2005 to my knowledge.

It's funny, I've also been told (at the BMW dealer) that you absolutely must use a motorcycle specified oil in the engine because it contains the special additives for the clutch. Anyway, that's all BS. You can use Mobil1 Synthetic 15w-50 in the engine with no problem. The trans takes a straight 90w GL5, so does the final drive.

Oct 13, 2009 · yes it can be taken apart but it must be done very carefully.my lens was broken .i found another assembly with good lens but broken mounts for 60.00 on ebay.remove headlight assembly .the lens is secured with clips and silicone.remove clips and take an exacto knife and run around the glass .you will see the silicone.then take a small screwdriver and pry a little at time .work your way around ...

I'd have to look at how the times compare between the different models, but the R11S, as with the R1150R, have none of those pesky fairing panels to get in the way of most of the major work. And even for services that require removing tupperware, it takes significantly less time to strip an R11S than an RT, LT, GT, etc...
