Apr 4, 2013 · The only way to truly test an AFM is with an oscilloscope. You must read the voltage output over time and inspect that plot. No averaging can be incorporated into your results.

Mar 6, 2016 · The sensors are the same, but you get a mass air sensor vs a AFM. It has run really well on my 8.5/1 stock motor with a 292 cam, 325i TB, & headers. The real benefit is that if you want to go super budget, you can just swap the injectors & ecu from the turbo Volvo's and have a pretty close map.

May 3, 2015 · Common symptoms of failing AFM is as follows: (in no particular order)-Weak or poor idle-Feeling of under powered engine output-Misfire type symptom. Brief and sudden loss of power but power instantly returns. Basically, if you are not using a remanufactured or refurbished AFM, your AFM should be considered bad.

Nov 9, 2012 · Possibly a clogged fuel filter? Was going to try and siphon out remaining gas and refill with new gas. Also if bad gas isn't the issue maybe a bad AFM or ECU? Those two parts have been the solutions for other peoples problems in my research.

Aug 22, 2011 · An AFM tuned for a turbo application is not ideal. A much better match would be an 80mm AFM from a 2.0L e21 (which the OP already has), or an 80mm AFM from a 1.8L VW Mk1.

May 9, 2009 · The 20hp is relative to stock ECU tuning with an AFM. They don't JUST sell a MAF converison, they sell a tuned chip. The gains are basically identical to those seen with a Conforti or MarkD chip, and the "Big-Six" AFM conversion (since the M20i's AFM is a little under-sized).

Aug 16, 2009 · AFM affects fuel, so there is no reason why an M10 would need more fuel that it's getting w/o forced induction. Just make sure it's injectors are clean, same with spark plugs/wires and distributor isn't worn out....

Applies to: All models with the M20/M30 straight six engine. The M30 engine uses an AFM unit to provide information to the computer about the amount of air that enters the intake. The unit uses a flap reinforced by a spring that continually presses the flap against the air flow.

It is common that there is a limit in the air flow sensor MAP/MAF/AFM on the M10 when a lot more air is being fed into the engine. Going up you'll find 4 bar air sensors coping with quite large power gains, whereas the OEM air sensor sapped power at a much lower level.
