Oct 30, 2006 · The A28, whilst based on the A70/A80 platform, has had many of the same improvments we made to the A38 power amplifer and some other further improvments. It has the new ouput devices used in the A38 with external ouput resistors.

Nov 22, 2010 · So I could get a new Arcam FMJ A28, which being based on the old 65W A80 may be inferior sonically to my old amp despite the nicer package (so-so reviews). If I get cash from my insurers, then going for the Cambridge 840A leaves me money over.

Jan 26, 2023 · The Arcam FMJ (full metal jacket) are Arcam's higher end amps. There is also the DIVA series (Digital Audio and Video) The A19, A29 and A39 replaced the A18, A28 and A38 respectively. Confusingly the higher the number doesn't always mean the higher the model as there is also A22, A32, A85, A90, A70, A80, A65,A65+, A75,A75+, etc

Jan 4, 2009 · Same idea as me. I'm using an Arcam rDac but a Dac magic would have been an alternative. (I owned the original and it sounded exactly like the Azur 640 V2 cd player - not surprising as it has the same Wolfson chip) I considered an A85 and nearly bought one as the A80, A85, A90, FMJ A28/38/39 were all on my list. Ended up with the A28 with rDac.
