Apr 28, 2009 · They're a newer design, but they aren't THAT new. They're still Altec, not Altec Lansing Technologies (Sparkomatic). The A700 system was released in 1989, the ones I'm looking at was bought new in 1993 and have been to a theather until last year.

Apr 27, 2009 · I got a new offer for some Altec equipment, this time among other things it's a pair of A700 and A700XLF subs, 9442, 9444 and 9946 amps and PS90 and 95 monitors. Is the A700 system any good and what about Altec amps? Are they comparable to i.e. Crown?

Nov 12, 2004 · Hi everyone, it,s great to have discoverd this resource!I got the Altec bug from a friend who talked me into building a pair of 211's.I was totally unprepared for the quality,[and quanity!!],of sound.I am now planing to build some A7's,and would like opions about any acoustic differences between 828 cab's and 825 cab's.I have plans for the 828's but cant find plans for the 825's.Thanks'Bob one

Mar 6, 2024 · Altec claimed that the revised horn sounded better in the 500hz to 800hz range than the woofer. Thus they started calling the system A7-500. As to how yu can tell which one you have (A7 or A&-500) I do not know. I would look to see if there is any indication on the back.
