Why is AirTran's nickname "FL"? - FlyerTalk
Sep 3, 2010 · The original AirTran getting FL was a stroke of good luck. At one point the code list was expanded to include codes which start with a number, like 3A or 9N. But those were primarily used by commuters and third-level operations, and so startup airlines avoided those like the plague because “real” airlines had letter codes.

Airtran Gift Certificates - Southwest not honoring? - FlyerTalk
Sep 17, 2014 · There was a message on AirTran's website - not sure if it's still there - that AirTran's gift certificates will not convert to Southwest LUV vouchers, so that's not an option. People on here have reported that they were successful in having AirTran deposit credits in their A+ Rewards account that are transferable to Southwest and can then be ...
AIRTRAN? Does anyone fly them?? - FlyerTalk
Oct 3, 1998 · AirTran offers good prices between Philadelphia and many places via Atlanta or Boston (especially New Orleans). However, I agree with henecheta that they need a FF alliance to make you choose them over a major carrier where the service is better for a similar price.
AirTran Experiences? - FlyerTalk Forums
Mar 12, 2009 · The things I don't like about Airtran is their lack of legroom and relatively uncomfortable seats. Also, you will get very little food in coach, so bring you own snacks. On the plus side, Airtran tends to have very friendly crews, fairly new airplanes, especially the 737-700, and tend to run on time. Enjoy your flight.

AirTran U - FlyerTalk Forums
Apr 20, 2008 · Just wondering -- the Airtran U site says to arrive at the airport 2 hours before departure to get on the standby list. If I arrive 80-90 minutes before my flight, what do you think my chances of being allowed to stand by are? (I'm 22, so I'm OK on that front.) Thanks!

Nov 13, 2014 · Airtran Airways | A+ Rewards - Airtran WiFi (GoGo) - Took a flight back on Sunday from ATL to TPA. Was hoping to get on the wifi and watch the live tv (like on SW) but it was terribly setup, over priced and seemed out of date.

AirTran 737 - Why??? - FlyerTalk
Feb 28, 2005 · I fly AirTran often, and I find the experience much less comfortable than Southwest or any major airline. I dread sitting in AirTran coach and am only slightly happier sitting in first class. I find the earlier post about AirTran's having deliberately chosen the stiff seat because of cost concerns very credible.
