The Abyss Greatsword scales it’s damage with soft humanity, and while, say, a chaos zweihander would outdamage it, the zwei doesn’t have the rad moveset or badass look to it (it probably does, I’ve just done 3 or 4 runs with it so it feels bland).

Sep 9, 2012 · With the Abyss Greatsword and the same vit and endurance, as well as using 35 strength and 40 dexterity the damage is 449 pure physical at SL100. But with 10 humanity the damage is 546. Two damage advantage, but requires 10 humanity. However I feel it has a better moveset and the split damage hurts the True GS so I would go for the Abyss GS.

Sep 10, 2018 · With my various weapons tests, I have concluded that the Abyss greatsword may be the best weapon out there in terms of damage. With at least 10 humanity, it outdamages all other GS, most greataxes (not crystal Demon GA), several greathammers (Grant did slightly more damage), and most UGS.

Use Astora's straight sword early in the run and make it a priority to be able to wield it early (start as cleric, put 2 points in dex and you're set), then try to focus leveling stats to 15/18/18/18 to 2 hand it and try to get it before Anor Lon

It also scales just from STR and DEX, but had an extra scaling method that makes it even stronger: Humanity, up to 10 on your person that you can lose by dying. It's the strongest of the three types of his sword. It also has the two more iconic attacks from his moveset as the R2s.

Mar 5, 2019 · According to the fextralife page, the Abyss Greatsword does NOT scale with Int or Faith, but instead with Str, Dex, and Humanity (up to a max of 10 humanity). This means you only need the minimum requirements in Int and Faith to wield it.

Apr 10, 2021 · Claymore. Unless you prefer the moveset of the abyss sword I guess. The Claymore is lighter and does comparable dps, and might even beat it out when buffed. Also doesn't require stat investments to faith and int to wield, allowing for a more focused build. The abyss sword isn't bad, the Claymore is just one of the best weapons and easier to wield.
