During the class, participants learn how to process crime scenes by using world-class techniques and applying them to real-world scenarios.

The course provides instruction in explosives identification and applications, explosives effects, IED component recognition and evidence collection. The course is delivered at a variety of locations throughout the United States based on requests from ATF field divisions.

Jul 7, 2017 · The Explosives Recognition and IED Exploitation for Intelligence Analysts (ERIE) training course was developed at the request of the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) to serve as a follow on course to the Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) Explosives, IEDs and Ordnance Familiarization course.

An improvised explosive device (IED) attack is the use of a “homemade” bomb and/or destructive device to destroy, incapacitate, harass, or distract. IEDs are used by criminals, vandals, terrorists, suicide bombers, and insur-gents.

The Guide is designed to help stakeholders take proactive steps to enhance their security and resilience for a range of threats, including IED incidents, by providing guidance and resources consistent with broader all-hazards preparedness and risk management principles.

AEDT provides in depth classroom and range instruction in virtually every aspect of explosives disposal. ATF provides travel and lodging in addition to training, classroom materials and range tools. Students are also reimbursed a daily per diem rate as determined by GSA.
