
Light/reduced .223 Loads for reduced recoil? > Reloading
Jun 19, 2022 · I have had success with IMR-4198 in 223 AR's, but the loads must be selective high end loads. Several years ago there was a magazine article with loads for AR's and how their sourced the data for each load. One load they had that was interesting was a 62 grain FMJ Hornady bullet with 21.0 grains of IMR-4198.

Sep 27, 2011 · I have been re-loading bullets for my AR-15 in .223 for 2 weeks now and am confused by the 14 bullet weights just on the chart for one powder manufacturer. I have been loading the 55 grain weight for target shooting and am interested in finding out what weight, and why, others use in the .223? I realize that the .223 is used in other platforms.

Sep 21, 2016 · CFE 223 and 55 gr fmj are a interesting combo. to get the same velocity other powder i have used, tac and 2230 i have to use 8-10% more powder. also the tac and 2230 loads in 16 and 20 barrels in my AR's only varied about 100 fps while the cfe was 250 -300 fps difference between the two barrel lengths.

Jun 10, 2010 · So if I zero my .223 at 25 yards, where should the impact be. Im going for 100 yard zero. Not really concerned with the ammo type, lets say wolf since I have alot of that. Just a close guess. Ive had good luck with the ak doing this, figure there is a number for the ar too.

Jun 26, 2009 · All will be more costly than the basic .223 equivalent since they are more specialty and therefore high cost to manufacture or configure. Check out the other calibur formums, both off this site and on. The AR-10/.308 AR platforms use a different sized lower due to the round being longer than would fit in a .223 magazine/mag well.

Sep 10, 2020 · I have 15K of CCI 400 and having other SR primers don't need to use these in .223, been using WSR almost exclusively since started reloading for .223. No problems ever with WSR. I'll experiment with the 400's next time I do .223 but the CCI 400 are supposedly identical to the CCI 550 SPM primers, so I can use the 400's for 357 magnum, etc

May 10, 2013 · The same loads when tried in a bolt action .223 Rem showed very scary pressure signs in hot summer temperatures. AR's often show little pressure signs until pressure is dangerously high. Just don't work up to levels shown in some data manuals in cool temps with 748 and expect to shoot the same loads at 95 degrees in a hot chamber.
