Dec 10, 2009 · The 7x57 AI is an extremely accurate and efficient cartridge. Now that you are looking at the 280 AI I would also suggest the 7mm JRS. It is all you can get out of a 280 remington case and will virually duplicate the 7mm rem mag. I have the 280 AI, 7mm Gibbs and 7mm JRS all based off that size case. I have had the best results with the 7 mm JRS.

Jan 8, 2023 · I’ve a #1 7x57 and thought about AI’ing it years ago. I came to the conclusion that I’d be better off doing a .280 Ackley, and in that rifle, I’d rather have the cool factor of a 7x57 than the speed (and recoil) of the .280AI.

Aug 17, 2008 · I picked up a Husqvarna in 7X57 AI with a 3X9 Loopy for a song at my local friendly pawn shop a few years ago and love the gun and cartirdge. I get 120 FPS extra using 140 gr bullets on average, and the gun cuts a tight one hole. Would I have a good standard 7X57 re-chambered...probably not. But, I wouldn't part with this one, either.

Feb 28, 2011 · I have a 7x57. A good friend of mine has a couple of .280's. They are both good cartridges. If building a rifle, I would go with the AI version of whichever cartridge you choose. The 7x57AI is supposed to get you .284 Win level performance. The .280AI is supposed to get you in 7mm Rem Mag territory.

Mar 1, 2017 · Nosler's 7x57 data is pretty "modern," and it's available on-line. If they don't list the powder you want to use, try 7mm-08 data. The 7-08's powder capacity is a little less than the 7x57's, so produces a little less pressure in "modern" 7x57's. In answer to your original question, no, the 7x57 Improved isn't worth the trouble.

Apr 22, 2008 · The 7x57 and the AI version can be terrific hunting cartridges when use in a modern action, with modern bullets and powders. As always, chant the reloader's mantra: Start low and work up slowly watching for signs of pressure.

Feb 28, 2010 · I just bought a 7x57 AI and am hoping someone out there has some experience and loads in this cal. Gun should arrive to me this coming week. Gun is a 700 action blueprinted with shilen 25" 9 twist barrel and timney trigger. 215 rounds down the tube. Came with a set of dies made to the chamber[RCBS] and 80 once fired Win brass.

Nov 1, 2008 · If it is a Mexican Mauser it must be a 93, so you should load for a 93 Mauser! It can't take the pressure a 98 will but it will do fine with factory loaded ballistics!
