Nov 8, 2008 · The next 7mm WSM build should be done shortly and I'm gonna try some 154 SST's and interbonds in it due to short mag length. It will be a mid range gun anyway that won't weigh much. Hope to have it shootin soon. If you are cramming them in a short action, they will be seated deep. Just part of the equation.

Apr 7, 2008 · Re: 7mm WSM vs 7mm SAUM Capacity is capacity and in broad brushstrokes the SAUM is a 280AI,the WSM a 7Remmie Mag. The WSM will always win a speed trial,at like pressures. That being said,the differences in performance aren't enough to shed a tear over. 100-150fps on the outside.

It was freezing and altitude is high. Im going to dial down a couple grains and see how velocity holds up. H1000 and RL22 seem to hold better groups.

Feb 13, 2017 · I also looked into the surgeon WSM action which you basically can’t find a mag and bottom metal to take a 3” round. So I settled on the long action defiance.. too many things could go wrong. if I build a $4,000 gun and can’t consistenly feed it. So now that I’m settled on long action the 7WSM is out and it’s looking like 7mm RUM.

Jan 11, 2011 · Re: 7mm WSM or .284 Win??? Lapua and Norma make 284 type brass. 300 and 270 WSM brass is available form Norma, as is 300 SAUM brass. I have a 7x300 WSM which, for all intents and purposes, is a 7 WSM... except that I can order Norma brass for it. The Norma is every bit as good as Lapua in my experience.

I have a couple of 7 wsm's, both surgeon actions, both with #10 contour barrels finished at 25", one I shoot suppressed the other has a thruster muzzle break. Shooting 180gr VLD's at 3000+ fps, both are tack drivers. One was built by GAP and the other was built by Surgeon.

Its kind of like comparing a 6br to a 243. They with both do the job but the short fat steeper shoulder improved cartidges are hard not to love. The wsm is a great case design its hard to find ...
