Oct 1, 1977 · If you disregard the words Super Sport, the Honda CB550F-77 is a consistent, handsomely packaged middleweight that will get you where you’re going in style and comfort.

The CB550F was the “Super Sport” model and it was more of a conservative café racer style without the emphasis on the “racer” part. The CB550F featured slightly lower handlebars, rising only about two inches above the head stock.

The Honda CB550 is a 544 cc (33.2 cu in) standard motorcycle made by Honda from 1974 to 1978. It has a four-cylinder SOHC air-cooled wet sump engine. The first version, the CB550K, was a development of the earlier CB500, and like its predecessor, had four exhaust pipes, four silencers and wire-spoked wheels.

Mostly the CB550F is delightful, but it comes at a price ($1825)—the high­est in the group by 8 percent. Neverthe­less it will still sell more units than any of the others because more dealers have it, because it's a four-stroke, and simply be­cause it's a Honda.

The CB550F was the largest factory boring of the smaller block, air-cooled, 4 cylinder, single over-head cam motorcycles made by Honda during the mid- to late 1970s. The block of the CB550 was similar in appearance to, but considerably smaller than, the heavier casting of the CB750.

Oct 24, 2018 · Equipped with Honda’s 4-stroke 4-cylinder engine, and a bore/stroke of 58.5mm x 50.6mm, the powerplant produced about 38 hp. That power could take the 421 lb bike to speeds above 90 mph. The bike had the same color schemes as its big sister, and also featured a lot of chrome. The 550 also inherited the same instruments as the 750.
