6V6 and 6L6 interchangeable? - Telecaster Guitar Forum
Jun 30, 2006 · There are 3 issues... Plate current, filament current and output impedence. A 6V6 in a 6L6 circuit will typically run very low plate current, thus a smaller value cathode resistor would be preferred for 6V6s. 6L6s require about twice the filament current of 6V6s...so 6V6s are fine in a 6L6 circuit, the opposite may not be true.

Can we talk 6v6 tubes? | Page 2 | Telecaster Guitar Forum
Mar 10, 2009 · I really wish I had a metal 6V6 here to measure, so we could find out conclusively whether the shell is "hot" (my suspicion is that it is.) I went around and tested the metal 6L6 and 6F6 tubes that I have. Curiously, a couple of my Sears Silvertone 6F6's did not have continuity between the shell and pin #1.

Apr 4, 2022 · Because 6V6 amps run their power tubes close to max output, the breakup point is usually lower on the volume dial, and, to my ears, 6L6 power tubes seem to give me more clean headroom, with a tighter, more focused bottom end.

HELP!! Tweed Princeton 5f2a/Champ 5f1 OUTPUT TRANSFORMERS
Feb 18, 2010 · Very little shift in tone but you lose a couple watts. They're both beam power tubes. No one makes a new 6W6, no big deal. They sell for around $5.00 each NOS.
