Oct 16, 2017 · There is one thing the 6.8 Western has over the 7mm rem mag - it can run in a short action. From a 'performance' standpoint, the 6.8 Western is basically a 270 win on a short action. The real benefit is fast twists for heavy bullets. That is something all 6.8 westerns will have that not all 7mm RM's have either. Many are 1-9.5"

Jul 21, 2021 · Fortunately, like the 6mm Creedmoor, target shooters had figured out just how inherently accurate these rounds were, and kept the demand for brass high enough that Norma, and now ADG has jumped on the brass bandwagon. The 6.8 Western, is for all intents and purposes a .270 SAUM.

Jun 28, 2022 · What length is your barrel? Mind sharing your 3000 FPS load with the 165 ABLR? I am working with a 24" barreled, 8 twist 270 WSM and using 6.8 Western data for starting loads, since there are so few published loads for the 270 WSM with the long-heavy bullets. Hodgdon has a lot of pressure-tested data posted online for the 6.8W.

Mar 1, 2019 · What powder are you guys Lovin' for the 6.8 Western using 165 gr. Nosler ABLR, 170 Nos BT and 175 gr. Sierra Tipped Game King (Gamechanger bullet). Thankfully, I've got nearly every powder advertised for the 6.8 except the magic RL-26 Pixie Dust.
6.8 Western in a 18” or 20” Barrel | Long Range Only
Sep 10, 2021 · Any thoughts on how practical it would be to make a 6.8 western with a 18” (preferably) or up to a 20” barrel? From the little I know, starting with a 24” barrel and getting 2970 FPS muzzle velocity then a ~25 FPS per inch of barrel loss you’d still have good velocity and energy out to 500-600 yards with the Accubond LR 165.

Feb 21, 2022 · Now, that said the 300 WSM with a long throat, hand-loaded ammo, and a faster twist barrel will match and likely exceed the 6.8 Western. The 300 WSM also obviously has a longer run time so things like case choices, rifles, and reloading tools are more available.
