Jan 16, 2023 · I am setting up a 55 gal reef tank with a 10 gal sump under it. It needs to travel up ~4 feet. I dont know how much flow Im looking for, im quite clueless and I am also going to have a HOB overflow box, can anyone help me choose which one as well? I know some are rated for always 1000gph and some only like 200 so I do now know, please help me.

Oct 7, 2018 · The 75 gallon tank is still 48 in Long but it is deeper from front to back than the 55 gallon tank is. This means that you will have much more room for Aquascape. Not to mention a higher water volume which only helps with stability. Before you become heavily invested in this tank. I think it would be worth considering a 75 gallon tank instead.

Jan 18, 2025 · Im converting the tank i have now, which is my 20 gallon, to a 55. I have all new stuff I'm putting into the 55 gal tank beside all of the live rock. The parameters are trash.

I do the same, (2) 32 gallon brutes. One for RODI and one for salt mix. I use a small pond pump with hose and pump water out of the tank into my sink then drop the pump into my brute can in the garage and top the tank back off. I dont deal with buckets anymore.

Jan 30, 2019 · I wouldn't keep a powder blue in a 55 gallon for anything more than a holding tank application. It is one of the more aggressive tangs and easily stressed and that 12 inch width is going to make for a very cramped tank for that fish. If you were looking at a Tomini then that would be one thing, but a Powder Blue is too big and aggressive.

Feb 3, 2015 · Hey guys, i know that there is a BIG argument about what size tank a tang can fit in. I was just curious if there was any type/species of tang that could fit in a 55 gallon tank. I have the aquascape arranged so there is lots of swimming space and all around the rock.

Nov 8, 2022 · Can a classic 55 gallon regular tank be run without a skimmer for filtration (mostly HOB filtration)? This seems actually cheaper than a fully fledged 40g AIO, even if I have to get the tank drilled for a sump.

May 6, 2021 · So my wife and I started a 30 gallon tank back in September. All my parameters are good. We had a 55 gal tank just sitting around so we decided to move everything to the bigger tank. Currently everything is living in the 30 gallon. In the 55 I have it about a little over halfway filled with RO from the LFS and home mixed saltwater.
