Apr 30, 2003 · Prep Pistons If you haven't done so already, push the pistons out of the block. Remove the rings, starting with the top ring. Be careful. The pistons are aluminum and you don't want to damage the cylinder surface. For extremly high milage motors, the rings may need some coaxing to get off.
