May 26, 2020 · I was not impressed with either the 357 maximum or 30 herrett. In the case of the 30 herrett, I don't see what real advantage it has over 30-30. I would think the 357 herrett has a small boost over the 357 maximum, but neither is a common cartridge. I also was not overly impressed with 357 maximum.

Nov 23, 2024 · The .357 Herrett for the Consummate Handgun Hunter and Cast Boolits, puts you over the top. I shot a .35 Rem in a 14" Contender back in the day with Pachy grips and forearm, helped with recoil. I would'a had the Herrett as first pick, but no time to form brass.

I am asking for suggestions for bullet weight/type and power load for deer hunting with this caliber. I don't want max loads just mid range loads. Aug 29, 2009 · The Herrett case is formed by necking up and shortening a 30-30Win case. It has considerably more powder capacity than the 357Mag or Max. All shoot the same diameter bullet, however it's been my experience that the Herrett like the Max performs better with the heavier end(180gr and up) of the 357 bullets.
