Jun 27, 2024 · I just got my 2GR swap on the road a couple weeks ago and this is very similar to my experience. I went from a rolling NA chassis to the 2gr and E351. Aside from suspension, tires, and wheels, I’m about $9.5k into the whole thing. Frankenstein pieces wherever I could. Motor mounts, headers, flywheel. TCS full exhaust. WASP patch harness.

For your donor 2GR vehicle you will need to search ebay for the oem Toyota electrical diagrams for that specific year/make/model. As for the mount, RAT2 motorsports is selling a mount now, and its currently on sale for $150!!

Mar 3, 2023 · They're already mounts available for the swap, already exhaust systems made to bolt up, the 2GR wire harness will cost less than buying an aftermarket ecu to run the 4A, and pedals are available new or at the junkyard. You can find a decent 2GR for $1400, the E153 can run $1300used to $3600new.

Feb 28, 2022 · The 2GR I got has 64k on it and is from a 2014 Avalon. I would just look for a motor with the lowest amount of miles on it. A thing to note though is to try and look for a motor passed 2010, those have revised cam gears that were prone to failure before then.

Sep 13, 2017 · 2GR is a good motor (albeit a fairly complex swap, TwoBrutal have some 2gr threads kicking about), but for the similar money you can tune a 3sgte to a higher peak output and get more midrange torque than the 2GR develops.

A large part of my reason for going 2gr over 3s was oem parts and better tq. and it's a bit easier to deal with as far as being able to tune oem ECU and all that. I also have had and have other turbo 4 cylinder cars and wanted a v6.

Definitely keep that gen4 even if it’s not in the car. The 2GR has me wanting to collect MR2s with different engines like Pokémon. I’m assuming you have a nice e153 attached to it as well. The thing with getting the swap done is it’s so much faster than a rebuild. They just drop the old and put in a ready to go new one.
