Jan 21, 2021 · Personally, the reason I'd even use the term 2.5D is if there's a significant distinction between 2D and 3D games in that genre. A 2D platformer like Super Mario Bros. plays very different from a 3D platformer like Mario 64, so 2.5D is a useful term to describe a game that looks more like SM64 but plays more like SMB. Similar with fighting games.

May 5, 2022 · Recently I came across a game concept (New Game Plus @ Superflatgames) that used a very interesting "2.5D" art style where the world is in 3D and the characters & objects are in 2D (see image below). I've experimented on and off for about a week now but I can't for the life of me replicate this camera angle/perspective and look.
