Jan 20, 2021 · Yep, there is no caliber restrictions in NC, that means you can deer hunt with a .22 or you can squirrel hunt with a .50 cal. But you can't migratory bird hunt with a rifle. So don't be caught hog hunting with only dove season in with a rifle. Oh yeah, then there are those pesky local laws you have to remember.

Feb 11, 2024 · Lots of good options and it depends on your hunting style. Spot and stalk, look at the AR-15 in 6.8 or 7.62x39. I use a 6.8. The .308 in AR-10 is good as well but can get heavy with a full mag and optics. For regular blind hunting, look at the .270 in a bolt action. Good luck and welcome to the forum!
