Aug 26, 2024 · DeKeyser Elementary School was constructed in 1971 as an open concept elementary school, where individual teaching spaces were not defined by physical walls. It is one of several open concept elementary schools in the Utica Community Schools district, the second largest district in Michigan, which includes 25 Elementary Schools.

May 21, 2024 · DeKeyser’s new design will be a template for use in transforming other elementary schools, according to the district. It will include technology and multiple work areas for instruction in which teachers, paraprofessionals and volunteers can work with individuals and small groups.
