WWF’s work has evolved from saving species and landscapes to addressing the larger global threats and forces that impact them. Recognizing that the problems facing our planet are increasingly more complex and urgent, we have refined the way in which we work around an ambitious new strategy.

WWF conducts research into the ecology, distribution, and population biology of gorillas. We also support research into the spread of diseases between humans and gorillas and the natural spread of diseases such as Ebola, as well as disease prevention.

The Better Cotton Initiative—with support from WWF—has worked with 43,000 cotton farmers in Pakistan to reduce their water use. Participating farmers used 16% less water and saw 109% more profit than their counterparts who used conventional methods. SHOP RIGHT. Sustainable cotton is gaining traction in the mainstream marketplace.

WWF has been part of successful wildlife recovery stories ranging from southern Africa’s black rhino to tigers across Asia. And this, in turn, is helping to protect rich and varied ecosystems while ensuring people continue to benefit from nature.
