It's like saying "OOC" for "Out of Character" on a roleplay board for anything not in character – you use it in circlejerk subs to say something outside of the circlejerk role everyone is playing, giving people the chance to see your real opinions and even have an entire /uj conversation alongside the jerkering.

/uj is unjerk and /rj is rejerk. There are reddits called circlejerks, which are never taken seriously. In these subreddits, /uj is used to denote seriousness and /rj is denote an end to seriousness.
