Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) is a national strategy on highway safety to advocate for eliminating serious injuries and deaths on our nation’s roadways, conceptualized by safety practitioners, researchers, advocates, and others from a variety of disciplines.

The event is designed to provide education and raise awareness of crash-related injuries and deaths affecting Minnesota's Tribal communities. An optional training session will be held the day before the summit, on March 24.

Currently, there are three national programs focused on reducing traffic fatalities to zero—Toward Zero Deaths (TZD), Vision Zero and Road to Zero. While these approaches each use different names, they are complementary efforts that support the shared goal of safe mobility for all people.
